Our History
For more than 35 years, Cumberland Chapels has been a trusted part of the Norridge community, dedicated to serving families with compassion, professionalism, and integrity. Families know they can rely on us because of our long-standing commitment to honoring every life with dignity and care.
Founded in August 1985 on Lawrence Avenue just east of Cumberland Avenue, Cumberland Chapels began with a vision to provide families with thoughtful guidance and support during life’s most difficult moments. The founders approached the work with equal parts legacy, innovation, and hope, determined to make a meaningful impact in the community.
Tony Lupo, Sr. and Louis A. Martino, Jr. led the funeral home through its early years, establishing a reputation for professionalism and compassionate service. Today, Tony's son, Anthony Lupo, Jr., carries on that tradition, blending decades of experience with a modern approach to funeral service that meets the needs of today’s families.
Over the years, Cumberland Chapels has expanded its facilities, added chapels, and introduced an on-site crematory, offering families comfort, convenience, and peace of mind. More than 20,000 families have trusted us to honor their loved ones, and we continue to adapt to meet the evolving needs of the community.
Today, Cumberland Chapels remains devoted to the families of Norridge and surrounding communities. Our licensed directors and caring staff are committed to providing compassionate, personalized service, ensuring every family feels supported, respected, and valued at every step of the journey.
