Zita Maria Castañeda Ong, age 60, passed away on October 30, 2020, due to high-grade neuroendocrine carcinoma. She transitioned out of the physical world surrounded by her loving family. Zita was the beloved wife of Ramon for 37 wonderful years; loving mother of John and Josh Ong; dearest daughter of the late Bernardino and Margarita Castañeda; cherished sister of Ding, Tonette, Rhea, Irene, Gerry, Margie, and Charlie. Zita, whose nickname is Diday, grew up in the Philippines and visited her family there frequently. Her first and only job in America was in Pearle Vision, where she worked for decades and eventually became the manager. Her coworkers became her friends and some became more to her; they became siblings, daughters, and family. Religion and the Divine Saviour Community were another invaluable part of her life. As a devout Catholic, she went to church at least twice a week and would pray the rosary every day. As the Filipino community in Divine Saviour grew, she became more involved with the community. She helped organize Simbang Gabi and other events specific to Filipino culture. Her circle of friends kept growing as she enveloped others with her kindness. She is survived by the three most important people in her life: her husband and two sons. She always talked about her family and how proud she was of her boys. She was the nicest, most caring, and loving person you'd ever meet. She was courageous and glamorous. She was the best friend, sister, aunt, and mother you could ask for. Zita is loved by everyone.
