William Samatas

August 2, 1944 — July 14, 2022

William Vasil Samatas passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 14th, 2022 at Lee Manor
Nursing Home. He was born on August 2, 1944 in Akron, Ohio.
William graduated from York High School in Elmhurst and spent most of his career as a
Restaurant Owner and Builder/Developer. He was a devoted father and grandfather, and spent
much of his time cheering his grandkids on at their various sporting events. William loved
boating on Lake Geneva, traveling with his family, especially to Disney World, and always
enjoyed celebrating at parties! He loved Jesus, loved his family, and believed the best in people.
It was very important for him to spend time with his family, which grew to be quite extensive.
He is survived by his children: William (Maria) Samatas of Elmwood Park, Krista (Brian)
Budzisz of Palatine, and Nicholas (Dena) Samatas of Elmwood Park. Grandchildren: Paul
Samatas, Emma (Justin) Santiago, John Samatas, David Budzisz, Olivia Budzisz, Andrew
Budzisz, Sofia Samatas and Grace Samatas. Siblings: Kathleen (William) Phillips and Thomas
(Catherine) Samatas. His cherished Aunt, Olga Soppi and former wife, Linda (Edward) Bernzen.
Nieces and Nephews: Michelle (Peter) Pacente, Louis (Kristine) Phillips, Kostandina (Timothy
Jr) Kyles, Anita (Alex) Lang, Nancy (Taylor) Peters, Catherine Samatas and Paul Stabler.
Great-Nieces & Nephews: Gianna, Isabella, Alissa, and Ava Pacente, Kate, Sofia and Louis Jr
Phillips, Ella, Ava, Trey, and Sonny Kyles, Charlotte Peters and Dylan Stabler.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Paul and Kostandina (Belushi) Samatas, his brother
Christ Samatas, and his nephew John Phillips Visitation will take place on Monday, July 18, 2022 from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge, Il. A second visitation will take place the following day (Tuesday) from 10:30 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at St Nicholas Albanian Orthodox Church, 2701 N Narragansett Ave, Chicago, IL 60639. Interment will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in River Grove.
