Vito “Vic” D'Anna age 88, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on October 6, 2026.
Vic was the beloved husband of Nancy (nee Yacono); loving father of Tony (Denise), Annette (Bill Ammons) and Rich (Laura) D'Anna; dearest son of the late Phyllis (nee DiGiovanni) and the late Bennie D'Anna; cherished grandfather of Aaryn (Victor Prieto) Maes, Joey (Mackenzie Springberg) D'Anna, Lauryn (Rahil) Taj, Gina (Omar) Moreno, Dante (Karasa Webb) Ammons, Matthew and Anthony D'Anna; great grandfather of Kenzo and Somni; dear brother of Nancy Mindy, and he was a fond uncle and cousin of many.
Vic was born in Chicago in 1938 and was a lifelong resident. Married for 65 years to the love of his life, Nancy, their devotion to each other is one that is rarely seen.
He was a loving and hard-working father, raising three children and sending them through 12 years of Catholic schools and the tuition that came with that. He enjoyed his children’s activities, their baseball games, Boy Scouts, etc.
Vic was known for many things—one by his joyful nature. He loved a good joke and delighted in telling anyone who would listen (sometimes more than once). His friends and family described him as “lighting up the room” and he unequivocally did.
He was also proud to be a member of the United Brotherhood of Teamsters for many years.
He was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs, a tradition passed on by his mother, Phyllis.
But his calling card was his voice. He was an accomplished singer who loved to sing at weddings and parties, including his children’s. His trademark song was “Mack the Knife” and there is no doubt that any person who knew Vic and heard the song thought of him immediately. We will miss our bright light.
