Vincenza Calcara, nee Stallone, age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on December 20, 2024. Vincenza was the beloved wife of 60 years to the late Gaspare Calcara; loving mother of Giuseppe, Antoinette and Jenny Calcara; dearest daughter of the late Giovanna and Gaspare Stallone; cherished grandmother of Marie (Joseph) Schiavone, Jennifer Calcara, Joseph (Kristina) Abbinante and Kaitlyn (Matthew) Wallace; great grandmother of Jaxon and Emilia; dear sister of Susanna Maria (Antonio) Comacchio, Vera (Joseph) Butera and the late Giovanna (Leonardo) Vaiana, and sister in law of the late Vita LaSala and the late Nino Calcara; fond aunt of many.
Vincenza's love story started in Castelvatrano, Sicily, where she met her beloved husband Gaspare. They came to the United States to Chicago where they began to build their American dream. Aside from being a talented seamstress, she loved cooking and providing for her family. She often welcomed her family and friends by hosting holidays and parties, where she served everything homemade. A fan of fashion, she found the time to sew for herself and her girls whipping together dresses for special occasions and outfits for family photographs. She did all of this while raising a family and working at Zenith and Brach's Candy full time. She was tirelessly devoted to her husband and children, while working hard to give them a good home.
