Valentin Garcia, Age 36, passed away Dec 1 2013. Beloved husband of Michelle nee Firlit. Loving father of Gabriel, Sofi and Oliver Garcia. Beloved son of Juan and Modesta nee Juarez. Devoted son-in-law of Barbara Firlit and the late Casimir F. Firlit M.D. and son-in-law Sharon (Marshall) Zandell. Dear brother of Jose, Patricia, Ana and Jorge. Special uncle to Mikey. Fond uncle, nephew, cousin and friend of many. Self taught accomplished cake decorator and owner of The Bleeding Heart Bakery in Chicago for over 10 yrs. He was a 13 time competitor on Food Network’s show, Challenge, winning Gold twice and Silver numerous times with most recently winning Halloween Wars. Bleeding Heart Bakery had won best Bakery in Chicago most years during its existence. Valentin was very involved in both Chicago’s Punk Rock and Green Food movement. Visitation Wednesday Dec. 4 from 3 to 9:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Funeral Thursday 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home and then will proceed to Our Lady Mother of the Church for Mass at 10:30 a.m. Services will conclude at Church.
