Tomasett L. Siek-Nelson, 71, of Des Plaines, at rest Tuesday, November 19, 2024. Tommi was born and raised in Chicago. Growing up, she had many adventures that came from going to an all girl's high school, taking the Belmont bus to Cub's games and everywhere else, and traveling great distances with her parents and sister to get the best food. Tommi received her Bachelor's of Science in Nursing from Loyola University and dedicated her life to helping others as a nurse at Resurrection Hospital for over 40 years. As a Nurse Manager and supervisor, the nursing staff found Tommi to be very supportive, responsive, knowledgeable and fair. It was there that Tommi met the love of her life, Gary, when she needed her phone "fixed". They were married shortly after and had a wonderful 44 years together where they created so many wonderful memories with family and friends.
Tommi is the beloved wife of the late Gary. Loving mother of Brittney Nelson – Ranieri (Ben Ranieri) and the late Joseph. Beloved daughter of the late Chester and the late Mildred. Tommi was a courageous fighter and battled cancer for over 10 years. She was an inspiration to everyone she met. She always had a kind word and made a lasting impact everywhere she went. Tommi will be greatly missed by everyone she knew. We couldn’t have asked for a better wife, Mom, Grandma, Aunt, sister, sister-in-law, neighbor, nurse and friend. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Ovarian Cancer Research Alliance. You are asked to join Tommi's family for dinner at Cucinia Biagio Restaurant after the visitation.
