Thomas J. Szczech Jr, 82, at rest July 6, 2025. Proud U.S. Army Military Police veteran and Lane Tech High School Alumni. Devoted husband of Mary Szczech nee Mazzocchi. Dear son of the late Thomas Sr. and Josephine Szczech. Dear brother-in-law of Karen and Gail Mazzocchi. Fond uncle of Kari, Nicky, and Eddie (Tara)Mazzocchi; great uncle of Jessica Eubanks, Nicholas (Arianna), Kyle (Taylor), MacKenzie, Gianna, and Carly Mazzocchi. Loving cousin of the late Geraldine Smentek. Friend of many. Special thanks to Terri and Christine and her beautiful daughters, as well as cousins Debbie and Pam for their help in caring for Tom. He was an active and faithful parishioner of Our Lady, Mother of the Church for over 53 years and served throughout the years as a Eucharistic Minister, Collection Counter, Parish Council Member as well as the Men’s Club, Friendship Club, St. Vincent DePaul Society, and Bingo. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 9, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W Lawrence Ave, Norridge. Funeral services will begin on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, then proceed to Our Lady, Mother of the Church, Chicago, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will follow at Maryhill Cemetery.
