Thomas A. Burian, 72, of Park Ridge, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the adoring husband of Enrica, nee Bianchini, whom he met on a blind date and proposed to eight weeks later. They married on September 23, 1984 and spent 39 loving years together. He was the proudest father of Danielle (Vince) Mathe and Matthew (Delanie) Burian and the adoring Nonno to three beautiful granddaughters, Emma, Tara and Blake, all whom brought him immense pride, laughter and stress.
Tom was born in Detroit, Michigan, to Anthony and Margaret, nee Walker, Burian. He grew up with a passion for music, playing the French horn. He attended Arizona State University, where he earned his bachelor's and master's degrees and then enjoyed a successful career at Motorola for nearly 30 years.
Tom was a kind, friendly and generous soul, who always had a smile, joke and random factoid to share. He had a passion for studying history and expressing his endless appreciation to veterans. He loved to learn and tell stories to anyone that would listen. Always an animal-lover, he would never miss an opportunity to stop and pet any passing dog on the street. He especially enjoyed dining out with family and friends and intricately planning his meal in advance. While he preferred to be on the receiving end of his wife’s cooking, he honed the skill of sauce-making and reveled in the joy of making lasagna with his wife and granddaughters. But above all else, he took the greatest pride in caring for his family.
Tom was also cherished by his extended family as the loving brother and brother-in-law of Delfo (Francine) Bianchini, Michael Bianchini, Fred (Chalintorn) Burian, Barbara Welchlin, Bonnie Burian and the late Robert and Jack Burian. The dearest son-in-law to the late Enrico and Leonetta Bianchini. He was beloved by many nieces and nephews.
Tom will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. He will always be remembered for his beautiful blue eyes, great hair and his endless love for his family.
