Ted Kozak, 69, passed away on January 6, 2021, losing his battle to Bladder Cancer. Ted was born in Caracas, Venezuela on September 22nd 1957 to Anna (ne Granat) and Stefan Kozak. They immigrated to Chicago where Ted attended St. Aloysius and Lane Tech; he also went on to obtain an Associates degree. Ted was drafted into the Army where he served as a military policeman. Once he was honorably discharge from the Army, he applied for the Chicago Fire Department on a whim and was accepted. He served the CFD for 29 years retiring from Engine 71 in 2009. Ted is survived by his two daughters: Kathleen (Brian) Maher-Lipinski and Lisa M. (Chris Newell) Kozak. Cherished grandfather of Lauren, Breana, Kailey, Brayden, Brynley and Brycen. He found great joy traveling to Rockford any chance he got to come visit with his grandchildren. Ted was predeceased by his parents.
