Softly, as you leave us, the lights have dimmed, the last dance ended after 65 years of marriage, Steve Tallen, 84, passed away on February 19, 2026, leaving behind his wife, Cyndi Tallen (Hlavac). Also survived by his daughters, Laura Lee Khalil (Richam), Kim Gonzales (Mark Haas) and son Stephen Jr. (Maria Baez). Grandchildren, Jason (Melissa), Michael, Amy, Steven, Joseph, Sara and Chris. Great grandsons, Charles, Aiden, the silly dogs Bugs, T.D. And Woo.
Along with a million memories of a faithful, hard-working, railroad man, a truthful and trusting guy who liked traveling adventures, raced his dragster, rode his chopper, was a member of Midwest Street Rods Car Club, built, and drove three show cars.
Fondest memories of my dad. Laura:- family dinners, drag races, you walking me down the aisle at my wedding, traveling adventures, car shows in the jade green 39 Chevy, baking your favorite cake – love you, my papa you will always be in my heart. Kim: - the first man I ever loved is my dad. Steve Jr. - He is more than a dad. He was a friend.
Cyndi and Steve rescued over 100 cats and dogs, always missing his favorite old dog Griff. Steve was a cool dude, an impatient fisherman, a good dancer. The party is over. Forever lonely in a room full of people. I will miss you endlessly. Dobranoc
- Sara, thank you for taking such good care of your grandpa.
