Sophie Pusieko

Sophie J. Pusieko, age 93, formerly of Chicago, Il passed away September 28, 2013. Sophie was a longtime member of Our Lady Mother of the Church Parish since its beginnings in 1966. She was a tireless worker helping to form the Women's, Friendship and Senior clubs, all of which she served as a board member; working effortlessly in all its endeavors. In the church's beginning she opened her home for CCD classes before the church had a designated area for this purpose. Sophie was voted as Archdiocese of Chicago 'Woman of the Year' in 1999. Sophie volunteered for many years at Resurrection Medical Center. Other than her family and friends, perhaps her greatest love was reading and growing her white African violets. Wife of late Zennon 'Jack' Pusieko, Mother of late Constance Pusieko Grandmother of late Timothy Pusieko. Survivors include her son, Timothy Pusieko, (Kathy) of Snellville, GA; and Grandson Jason Pusieko, Aunt to many nieces and nephews along with many, many friends. Visitation Saturday October 5 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service 2:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Interment will follow service, at Maryhill Cemetery.
