Sharon Deutscher

July 12, 1949 — February 11, 2025

Sharon Ann Deutscher (nee Blitzner), age 75, passed away peacefully on February 11, 2025. Sharon was the beloved wife of the late Ronald W.; dear daughter of the late Marie (nee Schemel) and Alfred Blitzner; dearest sister of the late Arlene M. Cierny; cherished aunt of Andrew (Cathy Junia) Cierny and loving cousin of the late Ursula Blitzner.

Sharon was a true original—a sharp-witted, fiercely loving, and unapologetically independent soul who lived life on her own terms, and always with a Starbucks in hand. She never fit the mold and tried hard not to. A lifelong artist, she had an eye for beauty and a talent for capturing the world exactly as she saw it—often through the lens of her camera, always with her signature touch of irreverence. She adored Chicago in all its messy, glorious charm, from cheering on the Cubs and the Blackhawks to indulging in true Chicago-style pizza - thin crust, square-cut - and washed down with sorta sweet iced tea. Like any real Chicagoan, she never forgave the name changes for Marshall Field's and Sears Tower and would be the first to correct anyone who dared call them anything else in her presence.Sharon was also a full-time, no-days-off Cher fan. Although, if she could turn back time, she probably wouldn’t—because she lived exactly as she wanted to, embracing every moment with boldness, sarcasm, and a heart of stone (with some photoshopped gold). She took pride in being different, never fitting into any mold, and always telling it like it is—whether you were ready for it or not. Beneath her snark and tough exterior was someone who cared deeply, loved fiercely, and made sure the people in her life knew they mattered.
