Ruth A. Troutman, nee Yegge, 89, formerly of Des Plaines, passed peacefully on December 4, 2016, at the Lutheran Home where she had lived for nearly 5 years. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on December 28, 1926; her mother died in childbirth and so she was raised by her paternal aunt, Anna Mae Yegge, as her own in Chicago. She volunteered at Holy Family Hospital for several years following her retirement. Ruth loved nature, travel, and Chicago sports teams, especially the Cubs.Ruth married George J. Troutman in 1946 and eventually settled in Des Plaines, a home they shared with Anna Mae until her death in 1968. Ruth remained there following George’s death in 1997 until moving to the Lutheran Home in 2012. While in Des Plaines, she was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Ruth also was preceded in death by her parents, Leo and Annette Yegge, and her siblings Leo, Robert, and Jeanette Pablo of New York. Immediate survivors include her sister-in-law, Loretta (the late Ernie) Troutman; nephew Ernie (Lee Ann) of Brookfield, WI and their children Nathan (Katie), Sara (Andrew) Powell, and Joshua, and 6 grandchildren; and niece Leslie (Robert) Lupo of Palatine, and their daughter, Andrea. Visitation will be held in the small chapel at the Lutheran Home, 800 W. Oakton Street, Arlington Heights, on Monday, December 12, from 9:30 am until the time of service at 11:00 am. Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines. The family is grateful for the loving care and enrichment Ruth received from the nurses, CNAs, and therapy staff at the Lutheran Home.
