Ruth Ann Korines (Besta) passed away peacefully January 30, 2026 at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Ruth was born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on October 1, 1953 to Milo William and Mary Ellen Besta. She was preceded in death by her husband Nicholas H. Korines, her parents, and older brother Gary Lee Besta. She is survived by her three sisters, Janice Rae Kerr, Patricia Mae Hruby, Barbara Jean Beyer, and her stepson James Korines.
Born with the creative bug in her veins, Ruth showed an early talent for the arts excelling in writing and drawing from an early age. She attended college studying graphic arts. In 1988, she married Nick Korines. They spend the next 36 years together until his death in 2024. She loved to travel and often rejoiced in talking about all the places she was able to experience. Some of her fondest memories were of the annual women's trip she celebrated with her sisters, niece, mother, and grandmother. She was a gracious host whose motherly instinct were evident for all to see. She was strong but gentle. Ferocious but kind. Saintly with a splash of sinner. To know her is to love her. To be loved by her as a son is an honor for which I am eternally grateful. Heaven was created with you in mind. Rest in Peace, Santo.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, April 8, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 8 p.m. Interment will be private at Elmwood Cemetery. For more information call (708)456-8300.
