Rosendo Avila

Rosendo “Tito” Avila, age 97, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026. Tito was born on November 22, 1928, in Quiringuicharo, Michoacan, Mexico, to the late Francisco and the late Isabel Avila.

Tito was the beloved husband of Fidelia (nee Chavez), with whom he shared 76 years of marriage. He was the loving father of Teresa (the late Mike) Lessner, Rosa Linares, Olga Alverio, Isabel Rojas, Luz (the late Ramon) Villaroel, Francisco (Charity) Avila, Carmen Ortiz, Martha (Russell) McNab, Rosendo Avila, and the late Maria Lourdes Avila.

Tito was a cherished grandfather and great-grandfather to many, all of whom he loved dearly. He was also a loving brother to many siblings, a devoted uncle to numerous nieces and nephews, and a dear friend to many.

Tito was a kind and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was a talented coin collector and found special joy in making rosaries for his family and friends, both here in the United States and back home in Mexico. A hardworking man, Tito dedicated his life to providing for and caring for his family. His strong work ethic, generous heart, and devotion to those he loved were a reflection of the wonderful man he was.

Tito leaves behind a beautiful legacy of love, faith, family, and kindness. His presence brought comfort and joy to so many, and the memories he created with his family and friends will be treasured forever. He will be deeply missed, but his love will remain in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation for Tito will take place on Thursday, September 10, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm and on Friday from 10:00 am until time of funeral service at 11:00 am at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge, Illinois. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois.
