Rosemary Shea, 85, a loving mother and grandmother is at peace with Christ and her husband John C. Shea on January 2, 2019. Mother of Julie Shea, John Shea, Roseanne Tyrrell (late Kelly), Mary Beth Fahey (Greg), and Mark Shea (Veronica). Cherished grandmother of Kristina DiBlasi (William), Amanda (Andrew Grosdidier) and Sean Tyrrell, Kyle, Christopher, Tyler, and Justin Fahey, and Ryan and Madeleine Shea. Rose’s life centered around the family she created with her husband John. Married in 1953 in Detroit, Michigan; they celebrated 60 years of marriage together. Rose’s greatest role was that of a mother. She raised five children, ten plus dogs, ran three households and hosted Notre Dame tailgate parties cooking for more than fifty. Rose had a spirit of generosity that always included additional people at the table and an open welcoming home to family and friends. Her long and loyal friendship enriched the lives of her sisters-in-law and friends. Rose was kind and gentle while having the strength and spirit to raise a family of five. Throughout her life Rose was a woman of great faith. Her faith and generosity extended beyond her busy family life to her volunteer service in the community.Following her husband’s career through three states, her final home was in Park Ridge, Illinois; near her adult children. Rose traveled internationally with her husband John and loved her summers at Lake Wawasee in Indiana, where she endlessly drove the boat while her children learned to water ski and later taught all of her grandchildren to swim. Winters were spent in Florida with kids and grandkids visiting throughout the season. Rose’s role as mother was only surpassed by her role as grandmother of nine; six boys, three girls, and four more dogs. Her grandchildren lovingly remember her as laughing when she talks and for her big hugs. Her last five years were made comfortable by the care and companionship of her loving caregiver Ewa Lysic. Rosemary left a legacy of love that will carry on through the hearts of all that knew her.
