Rosemary M. Orlando

February 12, 1930 — June 26, 2021

Rosemary Margaret Orlando (nee Bonafede) age 91, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on June 26, 2021. Beloved wife of the late Russell, loving mother of Michael (Cathleen), Mary (Cheryl Dann), Rosemary and Margaret Orlando and Tricia (Steven) Maher, dearest daughter of the late Josephine (nee Bruno) and the late Samuel Bonafede, cherished grandmother of Michael (Connie), Anthony and John Orlando, Patrick, Grace, Rosemary and
Kate Maher, great grandmother of Addesa Marie Orlando, dear sister of the late Antoinette (the late Robert) Lippert and the late Theresa Bonafede and sister-in-law of retired Judge Frank (the late Doris) Orlando. Fond aunt of many nieces and nephews.

Rosemary was born in Chicago on February 12, 1930 to Josephine and Samuel Bonafede. She graduated from Providence High School and went on to receive her BA in Education from DePaul University. She taught kindergarten, primary grades and high school throughout the Chicago and Suburban areas. Rosemary resided with her family in Chicago and later moved to Delavan, WI with her husband Russell. They both became substitute teachers in the Delavan School District and in her later years, Huntley School District where she continued substitute teaching until she was
85 years old.

Rosemary had many interests including reading her favorite books, writing letters and poems, travelling throughout the U.S. and Europe. She loved movies and theatre, cooking her favorite Italian recipes, spending time with her family, friends, and many cousins, volunteered at their parish, St. Constance Church, where she and Russell raised their five children to have a strong Catholic faith.

Visitation Thursday, July 1, 2021, from 8:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. We will then proceed to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Glenview for a Mass at 11:30 a.m.
Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery in Des Plaines, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations to the Sisters of Providence at St. Mary of the Woods, 1 Sisters of Providence, Saint Mary of the Woods, IN 47876 or (812) 535-3131 (sistersofprovidence.org) would be appreciated.
