Rosalia Inserra

Rosalia Inserra, age 93, passed away peacefully on September 4, 2026. Rosalia was born on May 9, 1933, in Altavilla Milicia, outside the city of Palermo in the Italian region of Sicily, to the late Giovanni and Francesca Guagliardo.

Rosalia was the beloved wife of the late Salvatore Inserra. She was the loving mother of Tom (Patty) Inserra and Rosa Macrito. Dearest Grandma and Nonna of Attilio (Jolie) Macrito, Dave Inserra, Marissa (Dan) Nemec, Loren (DJ) Swoch, Lisa (Jon) Stajduhar and Salvatore Macrito. Proud great-grandmother and Great Nonna of Ava, Stevie, Cameron, Austin, Diego, Lucas, Cecilia and Evan.

Dear sister of Anna (the late Lorenzo) Abbate, and the late Marianna (the late Tony) Genualdi and the late Giovanni Guagliardo. Fond aunt to many nieces and nephews.

Rosalia was a wonderful cook who took great pride in preparing delicious meals for her family and bringing everyone together around the table. She also enjoyed gardening, traveling, and creating special memories with the people she loved. Her greatest joy, however, was her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and her love and warmth will continue to live on through each of them.

Rosalia will be remembered for her loving heart, generous spirit, and the beautiful home and family she nurtured throughout her life. Though she will be deeply missed, the memories she created and the love she gave so freely will remain in the hearts of her family forever. Her legacy lives on through the generations she loved so dearly, and she will always be their cherished Nonna, whose love will never be forgotten.

Visitation for Rosalia will take place on Wednesday, September 9, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge, Il. The funeral will take place the following day on Thursday, beginning at the funeral home at 9:00 am and then proceed to Mary, Undoer of Knots Parish at St. Robert Bellarmine Church for 10:00 am Mass. Entombment will follow the mass at All Saints Cemetery in the Indoor Mausoleum, Des Plaines, Illinois.
