Ron Frohlich, affectionately known as P Fro, passed away on January 27, after a brief but courageous battle with common bile duct cancer. He was 80 years old.
Born in Chicago on November 1, 1944, Ron was the son of William and Tillie Frohlich. He grew up in a close-knit family with his brother, Bill, and sister, Audrey, where adventure was never far behind. Whether traveling near and far or getting into mischief at home, the Frohlich family shared countless memories that shaped Ron into the man he was.
A proud U.S. Army veteran, Ron served in the Vietnam War and was awarded a Bronze Star Medal with a V for valor. As a tunnel rat and point man, he faced unimaginable dangers, rising to the rank of sergeant. His courage and resilience during those years never left him, and his stories of survival and brotherhood remained with him throughout his life.
In February of 1983, Ron met Judy, the love of his life, who would become his partner in every sense of the word. After a whirlwind romance, they married later that year on September 10. Their son, Billy, was born in the spring of 1984, bringing even more joy and purpose to their growing family. Ron’s love for Judy was immeasurable, and he found great pride in the life they built together.
Ron's joy and zest for life only deepened with the arrival of his grandchildren: Noah, Sophia, and Joss.
Ron was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bill, and son Billy. He is survived by his beloved wife, Judy; his daughter, Megan; daughter-in-law, Ebony; his cherished grandchildren, Noah, Sophia, and Joss; his sister Audrey; his nieces Tina, Tiffany, and Carissa; goddaughter Tanaya; and many great-nieces/nephews. He will be remembered for his unwavering strength and passion for life.
Ron’s passing leaves a hole in the hearts of his family and friends, but his legacy of adventure, strength, and bravery will live on.
