Romeo "Mayo" S. Bruno, age 99, known professionally in the entertainment business as "Mayo" Bruno, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family. A member of the greatest generation, he was a proud veteran of WW II, who served his country in the U.S. Army Medical Corp. stationed in England. He was the loving son of the late Joseph and the late Rose Bruno. Fond brother of the late Gloria, proud uncle of Julie and Claudia, devoted great uncle of Andrea and Lauren and great-great uncle of Brayden. Mayo formed a band while serving in the Army entertaining the troops whenever an occasion would arise. Upon honorable discharge from the Army, he worked professionally around the country and the Chicagoland area playing the accordion and leading the Mayo Bruno Orchestra. He played mostly private events on the North Shore, the Cuneo Mansion and the Brunch at the Regency Hyatt O'Hare for many years. He also owned the Mayo Bruno Music School on the Northwest Side of Chicago where he worked to pass on his love for music and the accordion to his many students. He continued to perform at private parties well into his 80's. Mayo Bruno will be missed by all who knew him. Visitation for Mayo will take place on Saturday, July 13, 2019 from 12:00 noon until time of funeral service at 1:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge. Il. Interment will take place at a later date in the family plot at Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Hillside, IL
