Robert W. Krone, age 70, passed away unexpectedly at his home on July 3, 2025. Robert was the beloved husband of Laurene M. Barsi for 18 wonderful years; loving father of Eric, Justin (Natalie) and Steve (Katie) Krone; dear son of the late Rosalie and Robert Krone; cherished grandfather of Jackson, Maura, Molly and Emma; dearest brother of Renee (George) Coughlin, Regina (William) Zoetvelt and the late Rhonda (the late Steve) Kuk, and brother in law of the late Larry Barsi;
loving
uncle of Peter and Sarah Barsi and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and colleagues.
Whether you knew him as Robert, Bob, BK, GBB (Grandpa Big Bob) or any other name, he was a man who embraced life to the fullest. Some say, work hard, play hard and Bob lived that way. His favorite pastime was to spend time on his boat with Laurene, his family and friends, cruising the Chain of Lakes. He attended as many Cubs games as he could and was in the crowd with his son, Justin, in 2016 for many playoffs and World Series games.
Bob was always available for anyone and put the needs of others first. He was a constant presence for his grandchildren, and they all adored him and his energy. Whether he was chasing around Molly and Emma, taking Maura shopping or playing catch with Jackson, he was an active and doting grandfather.
He was always open to talking through the issues we all face in life. He took tremendous pride in his role as a Partner of the accounting firm Sassetti where he worked for nearly three decades. He was always available to help anyone associated with his favorite client, then eventual employer, the National Fraternal Order of Police. He was a dedicated son, ensuring the constant well-being of his father’s comfort and health until his father’s eventual passing earlier this year.
He was a very dedicated, trustworthy and loyal person to anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity that is very dear to our family: Chicago Autism Network or Saint Jude’s Children’s Cancer Research.
