Rita Nancy Casal

Rita Nancy Casal, 83, of Willow Spring, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Friday, October 16, 2026, surrounded by her family.

Rita was born on September 17, 1943, in Santa Clara, Cuba. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tomas Casal, and her parents, Antidio Perez and Pastora Santana Perez.

She is survived by her two sons and daughter: Jorge (Michelle) Figuerola, Joyce (Alfredo) Alvarez, and Jorel (Nicole) Casal. She also leaves behind seven cherished grandchildren: Grace Figuerola, Faith Figuerola, Nathaniel Alvarez, Luca Casal, Aaden Alvarez, Mason Casal, and Natalie Casal.

Born and raised in Cuba, Rita later lived in Havana, where she met and married the love of her life, Tomas, in 1972. She worked as an electrical engineer and often traveled to Russia to coordinate projects. Above all, she was a loving mother and devoted wife, and she took great pride in the family she and Tomas built together.

In 1995, Rita and Tomas embarked on a new life in the United States. With little English and few possessions, they worked tirelessly to build a future for their family. Rita made the most of what they had and gave generously of herself to provide for those she loved.

Rita’s greatest joy and proudest honor was being a mother and grandmother. She treasured the time she spent with her grandchildren, who brought so much happiness to her life.

Rita will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Her memory will live on in the family she cherished and the many lives she touched.

Visitation Sunday, October 25, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. Friends and Family will gather at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, at the funeral home, for an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service and the interment will follow at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles.
