Renee C. Inman

October 31, 1961 — June 12, 2026

Renee Christine Quartello-Inman was brought into this world on October 31st, 1961. A birthday that would be impossible for anyone to forget and just like the holiday, she was always fun and never ordinary. Where there was great music, a warm laugh, a night of board games, cards, and memorable conversations…there was Renee.

Renee was the third daughter of eight daughters (yes, eight girls) born to Jim and Betty Quartello, arriving with big brown eyes and adorable cheeks. Raised in River Grove alongside her sisters, Renee and the Quartello girls were well known and popular all over town. Renee was outgoing, free-spirited and had a ton of friends, many friendships that she cherished and maintained throughout her entire life.

In high school, Renee played tennis and graduated from East Leyden in 1979. It was but a few short years later that Renee would meet her first husband, Jim Stoll, on the metra train while both were commuting downtown for work. Soon after, Renee would overwhelm the entire family with happiness when she gave birth to her first daughter and Jim and Betty’s first grandchild, Jessica. Not even two years later, Lisa was born with the same big round eyes and irresistible cheeks that Renee had.

Later in life, Renee found love again and went on to marry Lou Inman. Together, they welcomed Renee’s son Vincent Inman. From his childhood into his adulthood, Renee and Vinny shared an unbreakable connection.

As a devoted Mom, Renee was very involved in Rhodes School where all three of her children attended. From PTA, brownie troop leader, band mom, to room mom. She was often in the halls of the school helping around classrooms where she could, volunteering to steam band uniforms or chaperone field trips.

In her free time, Renee was an involved sister and friend. The Quartello girls, now women, would play recreational softball every summer. In winter, she’d join bowling leagues with her older sister Terry. She never missed a family party and as the years went on she was an incredibly devoted aunt to dozens of nieces and nephews. Every year Renee made a custom family calendar packed with photos, everyone’s birthdays and anniversaries, and even the family pets - her way of helping everyone keep track with a family this big. Her true passion was playing cards with her Mom and sisters, where she’d often win. Losing wasn’t something Renee or any of the Quartello’s were particularly good at, so a close card game was bound to be competitive.

As both Jessica and Lisa married, Renee’s brightest lights in life were her grandchildren James, Teddy and Betty. Each who inherited her warm brown eyes, competitive spirit and love of a fun card game.

Renee was raised in the Catholic faith, attending church regularly with her family and building a strong spiritual foundation from an early age. Through religious education, Bible study, and the receiving of her sacraments, her relationship with God deepened into something that would quietly anchor her for the rest of her life. As she grew older, that faith continued to guide her through life’s joys and sorrows alike.

During the last year and a half of her life, Renee faced a battle with cancer with a courage and grace that left those around her in quiet awe. She never stopped believing she could beat it, her positivity was unwavering, fiercely brave, and with her until the very end. Even in the most difficult moments, she never complained. She simply continued to show up; steady, strong, and full of a peace that could only come from somewhere deeper than circumstance. That light she carried drew people to her naturally, and she formed bonds that went beyond the expected, even the nurses who crossed her path found themselves touched by who she was.

Her faith gave her renewed hope and a trust in God’s plan that never wavered. Through prayer and the steady presence of loved ones, Renee found reassurance that she was never walking her path alone and in that, she gave the rest of us a gift. Watching her, we understood something more about what it means to believe.

Renee’s spiritual journey was one of faith, love, and quiet perseverance. Her trust in God remained a constant source of strength, and the way she carried herself through every season of life continues to inspire those who knew and loved her.

Her legacy lives on in the lives she touched and in the love she poured so generously into her family.

Though our hearts are heavy, Renee would want us to remember: that even as we mourn her, we should also celebrate - her life, her faith, and the love she gave so freely to all of us.

Renee lived life fully and unapologetically. She leaves a trail of wonderful memories and belly laughs amongst her sisters, children, nieces, nephews, and friends. After a courageous battle with cancer, Renee completed her earthly journey on June 12th, 2026 to lovingly reunite with her father, Jim Quartello.

Renee is survived by her mother, Betty Ann Quartello. Her children: Jessica Mesi (James), Lisa Coulson (Austin) and Vincent Inman. Her seven sisters and best friends: Donna Wilson (Bill), Terry Frana (Steve), Jamie Alfano (Frank), Cindy Novak (Brian), Tammy Siciliano (Frank), Laura Skuja-Quartello, and Michelle Youkhana (Shane). Her grandchildren James, Teddy and Betty. And dozens of nieces and nephews.
