Raymond Walz

Raymond Walz, 90, passed away April 11, 2018. Beloved husband of Leona for 67 loving years. Loving father of Jackie (Dennis) Raucci, Joanne (Tom) Kopanitsanos. Fond grandfather of Frank Kopanitsanos and Faye Kopanitsanos. Dear brother of the late Leonard Walz. Fond uncle of Joseph Costantino. Much loved, Ray was a strong-willed and determined man, vowing to make it to his 90th birthday. True to his nickname the ‘Energizer Bunny’ he bounced back time and again amazing us all with his endless resiliency and ability to keep on going. During his long and full life Ray, a retired truck driver, was an avid CB radio buff, enjoyed building and flying model airplanes, and tinkering in his basement workshop. Most recently he savored home-cooked meals, visits from his family and spending time in his favorite recliner next to his wife Lee in her matching chair. Ray and Lee would have celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary this year. We love him and will miss him dearly knowing he is in a better place free of pain and the limitations of the physical world. Until we meet again we know he is enjoying kisses from his beloved dachshund angels Dusty and Tiger. Visitation will be Sunday, April 15, from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W Lawrence Ave, Norridge. Funeral will begin Monday at 8:30 at the funeral home, then proceed to Our Lady Mother of the Church, Chicago, for Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. Interment St. Joseph Cemetery.
