With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Rayburn "Ray" Young, a retired Chicago Police Sergeant, who touched the lives of many as a devoted father, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and cherished friend.
Ray, the son of the late Donna J. Hockenberry Young and Rayburn Glenn Young (Pam Young), was a loving father to his sons, William and Grayson. He shaped their lives with unwavering love, wisdom, and guidance, instilling in them the values he held dear. Ray was a devoted brother to Rhonda (the late Keith) Mulac, Sherri (Louie) Molenda, Lawrence Young, Heidi Miller and Amy (Marco) Botello. He was also a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews, along with the children of close friends, who all knew him for his generous spirit, caring nature and hugs.
Ray will be remembered for his steadfast dedication to family, his love of music and his remarkable ability to make others feel valued and understood. His commitment to public service and the deep bonds he forged with those around him left a lasting impact on the community he served.
As we mourn his loss, we celebrate his legacy of love, service, and compassion. Ray will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
May he rest in peace.
