Raul Avila

Raul Avila, age 70, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Raul was born on December 5, 1955, to the late Cecilio and the late Eugenia Avila.

Raul was a devoted and loving father to Julie (Mike) Hummrich and Steven Avila. He was a proud and cherished grandfather to Jenna and Evan, who brought him immense joy. Raul was a dear brother to Maria (German) Aguirre, Joe (Betty) Avila, Jesse Avila, Raul A. (Margaret) Avila, Lilia (Lou) Kuszynski, Cid Avila, Sebastian Avila, Gina (Jack) Gamboa, Hope (Carlos) Rios, and Marcy Avila. He was preceded in death by his beloved siblings Delfina (Henry) Tutaj, Eugene Avila, and Angelica Avila. Raul was also a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember him fondly.

Raul will be remembered for his quiet strength, his deep love for his family, and the warmth he shared with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love, devotion, and cherished memories that will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

Visitation for Raul will take place on Monday, April 20, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, Illinois. Funeral services will begin Tuesday at the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., proceeding to Immaculate Conception Church for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery in River Grove, Illinois.

Raul’s love and presence will be deeply missed, but forever remembered in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
