Rachele Lettieri

Rachele E. Lettieri (Vallone) age 85, passed away peacefully on December 13, 2022. Rachele was the beloved wife of the late Vincenzo; loving mother of John Pietro (Mary) Lettieri, Maria Teresa (Barry) Theobald and Filomena Lettieri; dearest daughter of the late Filomena and Pietro Vallone; cherished grandmother of Vincenzo (Diana) Lettieri, Lauren and Nicole Theobald. Skyla Lettieri, Janel (Salvatore) Bosso, Maclin Lettieri, John Luke Theobald and Michael Thayer; great grandmother of Rayleigh and Ronin; dear sister of Maria (the Late Vincenzo) Santoro, Lorenzo (Rosetta) Vallone, Rita Lombardo and the late Domenico (the late Rosetta) Vallone; fond aunt of many.

Rachele was born in Celico, Italy on February 12, 1937. In 1954, at the age of seventeen, she immigrated to the United States, travelling alone on the Andrea Doria. After 2 years in America, she traveled back to Italy where she married Vincenzo in Celico in 1956. They traveled to America later that year where they started their lives together in Chicago, IL. After the children were born, they moved their family to the suburb of Schaumburg where she remained for the rest of her life.

Rachele endured many hardships as an immigrant, as did many others, but through her love and will, she created a loving home and family where all were welcome, and all were loved. She truly was the matriarch a multigeneration family and her home was where everyone always wanted to gather.

Visitation Saturday, December 17, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. until the time of an 11:00 a.m. funeral service at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. The entombment will follow at All Saints Mausoleum in Des Plaines, IL. For more information call (708)456-8300.
