Rachel A Martinez, known to her friends and family as Annie, passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2016 at Symphony Nursing Home. She was 76 years old. Rachel was born September 30, 1939 in San Antonio, Texas. She was the oldest child to the late Charles Y and Rachel (Fuentes) Rivas. On April 24, 1960, Rachel married the love of her life Noe Martinez and soon after their marriage, they, along with her whole family, moved to Chicago, Illinois. Rachel was known for her caring, gentle ways and all who knew her would comment on her generosity, heart of gold, and beautiful smile. Family and friends were Rachel's passion and delight. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. Her laughter will be deeply missed by all who had the Pleasure to have known her. Rachel will be lovingly remembered by her children, Noe Martinez of Bartlett, IL, Charles (Mary) Martinez of Bartlett, IL, Rachel (Bill) Stratman of Libertyville, IL, Belinda (Jeff) Flowers of Wood Dale, IL, and Marc (Thaya) Martinez of River Grove, IL. Rachel will also be fondly remembered by her twenty grandchildren, Mike (Nicole), Lauren, Danielle, Tiffany, Christina, Charles Jr., Michael, Mariah, Brittney, Blaire, Kathy Lee, Jacob, Gillian, Madeline, Nicholas, Rachel (Scott), Amber, Megan, Myah, and Jolee, and two great grandchildren Gabriella and Roman. Her siblings Charles F (Augie) Rivas, Adolph (Karen) Rivas, Isabel (Phil) Stumfoll, Becky (John) Savvas, brother-in-law John McMillian, and sister-in-law Karen Rivas. Rachel was predeceased by her parents, sister Sylvia, brother Robert, son-in-law Brad Hansen and ex-sister-in-law Anne. Rachel will also be forever remembered by her numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends. Visitation Tuesday, August 16th from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels (FRIEL FUNERAL DIRECTORS) 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday 11:00 A.M.
