Phillip Haskett, 85 of Cape Coral, Florida (formerly of Chicago, IL) passed away peacefully on February 17, 2026.
Phil was born to the late Marie and Sylvester Haskett on February 11, 1941 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a proud US Marine and retired CPD officer. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Betty, with whom he was blessed with 62 years of marriage before her passing in 2022. They married in 1959 and lived in North Carolina, where he was stationed in the USMC. They returned to Chicago, Illinois in 1961 after the birth of their son, welcomed their daughter in 1964, spent many years on the Northwest side of Chicago, and moved to Cape Coral, Florida in 2021 to enjoy the warm weather.
In his free time, Phil enjoyed keeping in touch daily with his retired CPD friends, being an ambassador at his assisted living facility, feeding the many ducks he visited during his travels outdoors, exploring restaurants in the Cape Coral area, and taking photographs of all the people he met, the food he ate, and the sunrises and sunsets he cherished. He had a smile for everyone, a love of all kinds of music, and will be remembered as a true friend to many.
Phil is survived by his two children: Mark (late Kathleen) Haskett of Casa Grande, Arizona and Lisa (Ron) Wade of Cape Coral, Florida. He is also survived by four granddaughters: Jessica Wade, Jennifer (RJ) Johnson, Jessica (Tim) Klein and Danielle (Paul) Rodriguez, and six great-grandsons: Kadence, Kameron, Lincoln, Sebastian, Levi and Leon. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Phil was also preceded in death by his brothers Mike and Jim.
