Peter Stecca

Peter J. Stecca, age 93, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Josephine (Pirrone) for 67 wonderful years; loving father of Anthony P. and Joann F.; and doting grandfather to his fur-grandbabies, Louie and Zoe.

Peter was the dear son of the late Florence (Matranga) and the late Anthony Stecca. He was the dearest brother of the late Marie (the late Sam) Fortuna, the late Victor Stecca, and the late Richard Stecca, and brother-in-law of Carmella Pirrone, the late Frances Pirrone, the late Paulina (the late Carlo) DiPalermo, and the late Maria (the late Sam) Raineri. He was a fond uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Peter worked for many years in the printing industry and later in life at an alderman's office at City Hall. But what people remember most is his wonderful sense of humor and his gift for making friends. He loved getting to know people, especially someone new, and no one stayed a stranger for long.

He was a devoted fan of vintage TV, classic westerns, and 50s rock and roll. John Wayne and Roy Rogers were his heroes, and The Three Stooges could always make him laugh. Peter never let a day end without dessert, and he never met a sweet treat he didn't love. He was also McDonald's most loyal customer, and to Peter, a Quarter Pounder was fine dining. His family will never stop smiling about it.

Above all, Peter treasured being part of his large, loving Sicilian family. He shared especially close bonds with his sister, his brothers, and his in-laws, and he will be deeply missed by all who loved him.

Visitation Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass 11:30 a.m. at St. Juliana Church 7201 N. Oketo Ave, Chicago. The entombment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum in River Grove. In lieu of flowers, donations to The National Kidney Foundation at kidney.org/donate would be appreciated.
