Peter Staus

Peter Paul Staus, Jr., age 76, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2020. Peter was the loving companion of Chrysanthe Kekos for over 24 years; dearest son of the late Madelyn, nee Cologeratos, and the late Peter P. Staus, Sr.; dear brother of Diana (Jeffrey) Hernandez; fond uncle of Denise (James) Coniglio and Robert Verber; great uncle of LeeAnn, Samantha and AmberRae; beloved friend of Chrysanthe's son James Alexander Frey. He was a cousin to many, and a proud master to his West Highland White Terrier, Zoey. Peter started his career while still a student at St. Mel’s, with Sears Roebuck and Co., and attended night school at Northwestern University. He began his 35 year employment with Zenith Radio Corp. retiring in 1996 as Director of Materials Management. Peter was especially proud of being an Eagle Scout, and remained very interested in scouting. He was an avid Chicago sports fan, and followed all of the teams closely. He was also a news junkie, and followed current events and politics with great fervor. An animal lover at heart, Peter and his dog Zoey enjoyed daily walks together. Peter's requirements for a favorite place to be: Sun, Sand and Sea! A kind person with a wonderful sense of humor, Peter was a loyal friend and loving man who will be greatly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. Visitation Thursday, September 3, 2020 from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with funeral service at 6:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. The interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Peter to the American Diabetes Assn., www.diabetes.org, would be greatly appreciated. Due to the current health guidelines, we are limited to 50 attendees at a time. We kindly ask that you quickly exit the funeral home after paying your respects to the family so that all visitors have an opportunity to enter. Please wear masks and use proper social distancing.
