Orlando Rivas

Orlando Rivas, age 52, passed away suddenly on April 24, 2026. Orlando was the beloved husband of Erin (nee Schamber) for 15 wonderful years; loving father of Sabrina, Hazel, Charlotte and Mateo Rivas; dear son of Paula (nee Gonzalez) and Rogelio Rivas; dearest brother of Roy (Emily) and Damaris Rivas; fond uncle of Jaden, Gabriella, Sophia and Lola.

Orlando had a smile that could light up a room and a spirit that touched everyone he encountered. He will be remembered as a man who gave endlessly to others. He was hardworking, athletic, deeply spiritual, and full of Life.-especially when it was his time to dance. Orlando's infectious laughter and sense of humor, and genuine ability to connect with everyone made people be seen, valued and important. Whether serving the community as a juvenile probation officer or protecting students as a school security officer, he dedicated his life to helping and guiding youth with compassion, strength and understanding.

Above all else, Orlando was a devoted father whose greatest pride and accomplishment in life were his four children, whom he adored with all of his heart. Family always came first, and he worked tirelessly to provide love, guidance and support to those he cherished most. In his final act, Orlando left this world as a hero, courageously protecting children from harm. Orlando's legacy will continue to live on through his children, family and friends and the countless lives he impacted.

A Celebration of Life will take place on Thursday, May 21, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. (Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.) at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. For more information call (708)456-8300.
