Celebrating the Life of Ofelia Giselle "Ofe" Torres Hidalgo April 12, 2009 - February 13, 2026
Ofelia Giselle "Ofe" Torres Hidalgo, a soul of rare beauty, selflessness, and courage, passed away on February 13, 2026, surrounded by the family who adored her. At just 16 years old, Ofe left an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone she met, teaching us all the true meaning of grace and advocacy.
A Heart That Cared for Others
A junior at Lakeview High School in Chicago, Ofe was known not just for her academic presence, but for her fierce spirit of compassion. She was a natural advocate for those around her, always seeking ways to lift others up. Most recently, she had been pouring her heart into establishing a Cancer Awareness Club, a mission born from her desire to provide support and a louder voice for children navigating their own brave battles.
A Legacy of Love
Ofe was the cherished daughter of Sandibell Hidalgo and Ruben Torres, who saw her as their greatest pride. She was the loving and protective sister of Nathan Axel Torres Hidalgo, and the beloved girlfriend of Alexis Soriano, with whom she shared a beautiful, youthful bond.
Her warmth extended to her entire family. She was the dear granddaughter of Lucrecia Herrera and the late Ofelia and Ruben Torres. Her presence will be deeply missed by her aunts and uncles—Abigail, Eneida, Hury, Cervando, Rutila, Miriam, Giovanni, Humberto, Joulisa, Lucy, Alex, Valdemar, Tony, Yari, Jorge, Pablo, Martin, Lourdes, Vicky, Ubert, Baldo, Samantha, and Alexis—as well as her many cousins and friends. Ofe also shared a special and profound bond with her teacher and friend, Valerie Wadycki.
Ofe’s life was a testament to the fact that it is not the years in a life, but the love in those years that truly matters. She was a "beautiful" soul in every sense of the word—kind, caring, and eternally bright.
Family and friends are invited to gather to honor Ofe’s memory and celebrate her legacy.
