In Loving Memory of Michael “Mickey” Zuccaro

Born: November 15, 1947 — Passed: October 25, 2025

It is with great love and deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Michael “Mickey” Zuccaro (77) who passed away peacefully on October 25, 2025 surrounded by family, friends, and loved ones.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Edie Zuccaro. Proud father to Jennifer (Dan) Tyre, Michael (Lauren) Zuccaro, Marc (Valerie) Zuccaro, Angela (Jack) Zuccaro. Loving Grandfather to Holden, Catalina, Madden, Lily, Avery, Gino, Vinny, and Zara. Son of the late Mary and late August Zuccaro. Inseparable brother of Rob (Colleen) Zuccaro. Beloved brother-in-law to Glori (the late Tink) Tull, Susie (Rocco) Sardo, Nancy (the late Mike) Smith and idolized Uncle to many nieces and nephews.

Mickey was born on November 15, 1947, in Chicago, IL to Mary and August Zuccaro. He was born on Taylor Street in the heart of Little Italy where he served as an altar boy at the local Catholic Church. He later moved to Norridge, IL where he developed a love for 16” softball, going on to win the city tournament as a member of the championship team. His commitment and passion for success didn’t stop at softball. While he brought these traits to Care Roofing, it was his dedication to his loved ones for which he will be remembered most. His charming and passionate personality eventually attracted the love of his life, Edie. Together, they created a beautiful family who carry on his legacy.

Mickey was an extraordinary person, one who will be remembered as a force of nature with endless compassion, humor, generosity and strength. Throughout his life, he touched the hearts of so many. Mickey lived a selfless life, ensuring his friends and family came before all else. Mickey was well known for helping anyone at the drop of a hat, without having sought anything in return. He was always willing to extend a hand and advice, all while remaining open-minded.

Mickey was a true legend, who went by many names. Whether you called him Michael, Mickey, Dad, Papa, Mr. Z, or even The Mick, he earned these terms of endearment through his amazing personality and consistent selflessness which will remain in people’s hearts and minds.

Mickey had an arsenal of “one-liners,” which could be applied to any situation. Among his favorites was his constant assertion that, “anything worth doing is worth overdoing,” which he embodied daily. It was through this philosophy that Mickey was able to live life to its fullest, always going above and beyond to share his generosity, compassion, and joy. In doing so, he bettered the lives of anyone fortunate enough to cross his path.

His passion for living life to the fullest extended to his love for the outdoors and family adventures. An avid fisherman and dedicated traveler, Mickey made sure his family shared in his wonder for the world. He was particularly fond of fishing and skiing in Crested Butte, Colorado. He created lifelong memories with his family and friends through these adventurous ski trips, exploring Yellowstone’s hot springs, sunbathing in Ixtapa, Mexico, all the way to wining and dining on the shores of Italy. These trips brought him immense joy and demonstrated his commitment to life, love, and prioritizing family time.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at 2:00-7:00pm, with a Memorial Service at 6:30 p.m., at Cumberland Chapels located at 8300 W Lawrence Ave, Norridge IL. All family and friends are encouraged to attend and celebrate Mickey’s life.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Mickey’s love, light, and memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.

Do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
