Both Jonathan and Michelle were named after him. Mike was Godfather to both Jeffrey and Michelle, and he had 5 great nieces and nephews. With his Italian / Sicilian immigrant Grandparents in the Perto-Pruter household, Mike grew up with lots of love, family, great food, and a strong faith in the Catholic church. His first best friend's were his many cousins, and the family was always together Mike attended Ridgewood Highschool in Norridge, Il., class of 1973, where he was known as the kid who had car parts in his desk. Mike joined the Air Force, where he became a Sargent, he served in Vietnam, while being stationed in Thailand. His father and the military instilled strong work ethics in Mike, he often worked 3 jobs, he also ran a business of his own, due to his "ants in his pants". Along with returning with a passion for work, he also returned with a passion for Thai food.In the service Michael married, and had his first daughter in 1978, Shaundra (Mark) Alvarado. When Michael returned to Chicago after the Air Force he took classes at Triton College. He met and dated Mary Rogers, they were married September of 1982, she gave him two more daughters, Kristin Robin Pruter and Jennifer Michelle (Anthony) Broccolino. He was crazy about all of his Grandchildren, Victoria Senger, Marky Alvarado, Gianna Broccolino, Tristin Robert Pruter, Anthony Broccolino, and Elias Michael Claudio. He impacted his family so deeply, many children were named after him, in one way or another. Michael was admired for his hard work and dedication at home, as well as in any job he held. Mike worked in the Motor Maintenance Division for the Chicago Police Department, area 3 for 31 years before retiring in 2010.Michael will be missed by all whose lives he touched, we were all lucky to have such a wonderful man in our lives, he truly was sent from above. Mike was stronger than he ever thought, and more loved than he could understand. He will be remembered for his heart of gold, amazing mind, his singing along to Dean Martin, cooking breakfasts for his girls, and his devotion to his family. Michael was a parishioner of St. Constance church where he would attend Wednesday mass with Tristin, who attended St. Constance School. Michael is rejoicing (and eating only the best homemade pasta) in the Heavens above with his Grandparents, Aunts, Uncles, and his parents.
