The family of Michael "Ace" Allegretti is deeply saddened to announce his sudden passing.
Ace was born in Chicago, Illinois, on April 8, 1952. In 1958, his family moved to Norridge, where he remained a lifelong resident and beloved member of the community.
Following the untimely passing of his father, Ace stepped into an extraordinary role at the age of 21. With the support of his mother and siblings, the bakery reopened its doors and Ace dedicated himself to carrying forward the legacy his father had built. For more than 64 years, Allegretti's Bakery has been proudly serving the Norridge community and became a place where customers feel like family.
The bakery was more than a business to Ace. It was a gathering place, a neighborhood institution, renowned throughout the area for its innovative wedding cakes and delicious baked goods, especially the famous chocolate doughnuts that became a favorite for countless customers over the years. Ace was always willing to help those in need, supporting friends and giving back to the community that had supported his family for decades.
Ace was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Rose Allegretti. He is survived by his siblings, Linda (the late Jack) Ahern, Carol (Jim) Tuegel, Anthony Allegretti, and Tom (Debbie) Allegretti; seven beloved nieces and nephews; and fourteen great-nieces and great-nephews. Ace shared a special bond with his great-nephews, Jimmy and Luke and late brother-in-law Bill Diesing. They held a special place in his heart and he treasured every moment he spent with them.
He will be deeply missed by his loving family, dear friends, loyal customers, treasured employees and generations of Norridge residents whose lives he touched.
Visitation for Ace will take place on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 from 3:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge, Il. Interment will be private.
