Melissa Hanacek, age 44, passed away peacefully in her home in Hoffman Estates, Illinois on Thursday, October 21, 2021, surrounded by those who loved her. Melissa is the: beloved wife of Timothy Hanacek; cherished daughter of James (Jr.) and Rosanne (nee DeGustino) Monaco; precious daughter-in-law of Ed and Sue (nee Pacer) Hanacek; best friend and sister of James (III) Monaco; dearest sister-in-law of Andrew and Gina (nee Alleva) Hanacek; and Eddie and Kristy (nee Torbik) Hanacek; fond aunt of Andrew Joseph Hanacek; and Kaitlyn, Kristen, and Michael Dutkin; and loving godmother of Michelle Dutkin, Nicholas Hanacek, and Samantha Thier. Melissa is loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, coworkers, friends, and chosen family/cruisers.
An accomplished interior designer and planner, Melissa’s style, eye for color, and ability to make it all work despite any obstacle will remain unmatched in talent. Melissa had an unparalleled spirit of adventure, compassion, kindness, and generosity. Her loving nature, laughter, and creativity will continue to inspire us, make us all reflect on living fulfilled lives, and carry us all as we navigate the world without her earthly presence. On behalf of Melissa’s spirit and memory, all who knew and loved her shall honor Melissa through their actions and words. You will be forever in our hearts, our sweet Melissa.
Visitation for Melissa will take place on Monday, October 25, 2021 from 3:00 until 9:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave. Norridge. Funeral Tuesday, beginning at the funeral home at 9:45 a.m. and then proceed to St. John Brebeuf Catholic Church in Niles, Il. for 11:00 a.m. Mass. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery in Justice, Il.
