May D Nelson

May D. Nelson age 94, passed away on March 18, 2026. May was born May 31, 1931 in Chicago, to the late Harry G. Heimberger and the late Alice V. (Long) Heimberger. Beloved wife of the late Donald G. Nelson. Loving friend to caregivers Hildeliza and Jeanette.

Being a proud Alumni of SteinMetz College Prep class of 1949, she served as treasure for many years. She also served on the boards of The Happy Seniors of Norwood Park Township and Seniors Association Center.

May loved animals and always had a cat of her own. She worked many years at Great Lakes, which she took much pride in. She was always willing to volunteer and help wherever needed. May lived busy, but simply. Her memory is a treasure we will keep forever. “May” she rest in peace.

Graveside services for May will take place on Thursday, March 26, 2026 at 11:30 am at Elmwood Cemetery 2905 N Thatcher Ave, River Grove, IL 60171. (Please gather in front of the office at the entrance of the cemetery beginning at 11:15 am.)
