Matthew Heitz

Matthew Paul Heitz, age 74, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by the love of his family, on November 15, 2025. Matt was born on March 19, 1951, in Chicago, Illinois, to the late Mathias and the late Lillian (née Pedi) Heitz.

Matt was the devoted husband of 56 years to Linda (née Yario) Heitz. He was the loving father of James Heitz and Theresa (Rocco) Zoccoli, and the cherished grandpa of James, Rocco, Joseph, and Luca. He was the dear brother of Joseph (Adrienne) Heitz, and a fond uncle to Kimberlee (Jeff) Barsaloux, Joseph (Lisa) Heitz, John (Nikki) Yario, Cheryl (Taki) Mullens, and Lora (Steve) Diem.

A hardworking and dedicated man, Matt was the former owner of Chicago Firewood Inc. on the northwest side of Chicago. He took great pride in his work and built lasting relationships within the community he served and beyond.

Visitation for Matt will take place on Thursday, November 20, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., and on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the prayer service at 11:45 a.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, Illinois. The funeral will then proceed to St. Paul of the Cross Church in Park Ridge for a 12:30 p.m. Mass. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Immaculate Heart of Mary Garden Mausoleum, in Des Plaines, Illinois.

Matt will be remembered for his strength, dedication, and the deep love he held for his family. His presence will be profoundly missed and forever cherished.
