Mary Madelyn Wilch (nee Cullotta), age 76, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on February 14, 2025 moments after her loving and humorous last letters were read aloud by her children and their spouses. Mary was the beloved wife of the late John (Larry); loving mother of Donald (Gina) Wilch, the late David Wilch, Denise (Robert) Waddell, and Dennis (Jenelle) Wilch; dear daughter of the late Mary and Donald Cullotta; cherished grandmother of Justin, Sarah, Cole, Ethan, Frannie and Marty; dearest sister of Angela (the late Arthur) Biegel, Therese, John, Joseph (Ann) Cullotta, and Rose (Robert) Fuerholzer, and she was a fond aunt of many.
Mary was the rock of the Cullotta family. She only knew how to cook for parties of 30 or more and brought anything and everything to each family get-together (even if that meant gathering everything in laundry baskets). Her house was the place to be on Sunday afternoons, gathering her children and grandchildren to shower them with love. She loved each and every one of her family members deeply. She joined her grandchildren on a trip to Hawaii, where they thought they’d lost her when a giant wave swept over her while she relaxed on the beach. She was a proud cheerleader of her oldest grandson, Justin. She took her granddaughter, Sarah, on back-to-school trips every year for shopping and to get her signature red nails touched up. She was forever proud of her twin grandchildren, Cole and Ethan, and their sports achievements and she loved watching her two littlest ones, Frannie and Marty grow up. She hosted every holiday, cooking and baking dozens of cookies to ensure that each of her children left with full stomachs, but if you didn't, that was on you. And if butter wasn’t involved in the meal, it really wasn't a meal. Mary was full of nothing but love for her family, and she will be forever missed.

A Memorial Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 22, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Cumberland Chapels 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, IL. We will then proceed to St. Eugene Church in Chicago for Mass at 11:30 a.m. The interment will follow at St. Joseph Mausoleum in River Grove. For more information, call (708)-456-8300.
