Mary Martin (nee Kaprelian), peacefully passed away in her Lincolnwood home on Thursday, January 14, due to kidney failure. Devoted daughter of the late Magar and Armenouhi (Mirakian) Kaprelian, adored wife of the late Siva (nee Mardirossian), loving mother to Robert Mardirossian (Mary Alice Lavin) and Jack Mardirossian; older and treasured sister of Martin (Jean), Robert (Victoria) and the late George Kaprelian. Cherished aunt, cousin and friend to many. Mary was a strong woman who graciously and generously lived her 82 years with compassion and caring for others. She devoted her early adult years to her family; supporting her husband in his career, nurturing her children’s development (she was a Sunday School teacher and Cub Scout Den Mother); availing herself to assist her parents, grandparents, siblings and any relative or friend who sought her help and wisdom. Additionally she readily volunteered to serve on various church or civic organizations’ committees. She also pursued some interests of her own; selling real estate part-time and in spite of her husband’s concern, took flying lessons and became a licensed pilot. As her sons matured, Mary began a 20 year successful career with the Illinois Secretary of State, initially working in personnel and then becoming a drivers’ license examiner. In both roles, she was appreciated by her co-workers and the general public. She was challenged in her later years with health issues and for the past seven years received dialysis because of kidney failure. Mary is mourned by her family, friends, caregivers and the many people whose lives she touched. Visitation Monday, Jan. 18th from 3:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W.
