Mary Beatrice Fahey, 92, a grand southern lady and loving mother of Greg (Mary Beth) Fahey, at peace with Christ, May 6, 2014. She is preceded in death by her husband, John Paul Fahey, and her children Ann Harvey, Paul Fahey, Michael Fahey, and sister Disha Scott. Mary is survived by her beloved family, daughter-in-law Melissa (Kent) Blumerick, grandchildren John (LA) Harvey, Pamela Harvey, Rebekah and John Michael Fahey, and Kyle, Christopher, Tyler, and Justin Fahey, and great grandchildren Kelsey and Colton Harvey. Born in Alabama in 1921, Mary met her husband, Jack, at Ft. Benning, Georgia, following him throughout the U. S., finally settling to raise their family in South Bend, Indiana. Mary was very generous throughout her lifetime and supported many causes. As an active member of the Catholic Church, she developed a fond friendship with Monsignor Bill Schooler and followed his good works through the years. As a world traveler and adventurer, Mary enjoyed many interesting trips with her son Greg, several of her grandchildren, and many friends. Her adventures took her to Russia, China, Japan, Europe and beyond. Her later travels, focused on family, included reunions and her 80th birthday in South Carolina. Her varied and colorful interests included Tarot card readings, card games, ghost stories, a love of books on all subjects but particularly angels, and a good Margarita. She spent her later life in Park Ridge, Illinois, living near Greg, Mary Beth and their boys. She enjoyed being an active part of the Shea family celebrations and visits from her out of town family. Mary was dearly loved and will be missed by the Shea family of which she had long been part of. Visitation Monday 11:00 A.M. to 12:00 Noon at St. Pius X Catholic Church, Granger, IN.
