Mark Smith

Mark Alan Andrew Smith, age 50, passed away unexpectedly on June 18, 2026, his 50th birthday. Born on June 18, 1976, in Indianapolis, Indiana, Mark was the beloved son of Barbara Smith (nee Maas) and the late Joseph Smith.

Mark was the devoted husband of Jamie (nee Michelini), with whom he shared seven wonderful years of marriage. He was the proud and loving father of Drake and Brock Smith, who were the center of his world. He was the cherished brother of Jennifer (the late Kevin) Hohnbaum; dear son-in-law of Gary and Cindy Michelini; beloved brother-in-law of Brian (Meghan) Michelini and Kevin Michelini; and proud uncle of Meredith and Aaron Hohnbaum, and Brady and Addison Michelini. Mark was also a loyal friend whose infectious energy, quick wit, and generous heart left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.

A graduate of Ball State University, Mark devoted more than 25 years to Walgreens, where he built meaningful relationships, earned the respect of colleagues, and approached every challenge with dedication and integrity.

Mark embraced life with enthusiasm and joy. He loved golf, great food, lively gatherings, family vacations, music, sports, and creating memorable experiences with those he loved. Whether he was cooking for family and friends, playing a round of golf with his buddies, sharing stories over a drink, or simply spending time with his boys, Mark had a gift for making ordinary moments unforgettable. His laughter filled a room, his smile put people at ease, and his presence brought people together. Mark was often the life of the party. If Mark was there, you knew you were going to have a good time.

Above all, Mark was a family man. His greatest pride was being a husband and father, and the love he poured into his family will continue to be felt for generations. He will be remembered for his vibrant spirit, unwavering loyalty, generous nature, and ability to find joy in every season of life.

Visitation for Mark will be held on Friday, June 26, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Avenue, Norridge, Illinois. Final viewing and a brief prayer service will begin on Saturday, June 27, 2026,  at  9:00 a.m. at  the funeral home, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass at St. Constance Church in Chicago. Entombment will follow at Maryhill Cemetery in Niles, Illinois.

Though his passing came far too soon, Mark's love, laughter, and larger-than-life spirit will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who were blessed to know him.
