Mario Rizzi, age 88, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family.
Mario was born on December 2, 1937, in Carnalez (Brez), Trentino-Alto Adige, Italy, to the late Giovanni Rizzi and the late Gemma Rizzi (née Albertini). He carried his Italian heritage with great pride throughout his life, cherishing the traditions, values, and strong sense of family instilled in him from a young age.
Mario was the beloved husband of Giovanna (née DiMaio), with whom he shared a lifetime of love and devotion. He was a loving and dedicated father to John (Carol) Rizzi and Joseph (Rose) Rizzi, and a proud and adoring nonno to Sara, Nicholas, Giovanna, Gianluca, and Francesco, who brought him immense joy and happiness.
He was preceded in death by his dear brother, Renzo (Rosemary) Rizzi. Mario will also be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends whose lives he touched with his kindness, warmth, and gentle spirit.
Mario will be remembered as a man of strong values, quiet strength, and deep love for his family. His presence, wisdom, and unwavering devotion will be dearly missed and forever cherished.
Visitation for Mario will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, Illinois. Family and friends are invited to gather on Friday, beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, before proceeding to Our Lady Mother of the Church in Chicago for a 10:30 a.m. Mass. Entombment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, Immaculate Heart of Mary Mausoleum, in Des Plaines, Illinois.
Mario’s love for his family will live on in the hearts of all who knew him. Though he is no longer with us, his legacy of love, strength, and devotion will continue to guide and inspire us every day. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered..
