Marilyn Salomonson, age 93, of Crystal Lake, formerly of Chicago, went to be with the Lord on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 4:03 PM at Northwestern Hospital in Huntley. A visitation will be held Saturday, December 16, 2023, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave, Norridge, IL. Services will immediately follow. The internment will be at Irving Park Cemetery.
Marilyn was born March 10, 1930, in Chicago to Valentine and Signe (Johansson) Swanson. She attended Hawthorne grammar school and Lakeview High School. She married, Oke Salomonson on February 27, 1957, and they shared 49 years together until his passing in 2006. Out of their union they were blessed with two sons, Scott and Steve.
Marilyn was a homemaker who adored her family. She enjoyed attending family gatherings and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She always was very welcoming to people and had kind words or words of encouragement. Marilyn attended Grace Evangelical Free Church and later, Bethel Community Church. She enjoyed going to Bible studies with her friends and was a dedicated prayer warrior. She also was an avid Cubs fan.
Survivors include her two children, Scott (Lana) Salomonson, Steve (Debbi) Salomonson. Grandchildren Lauren (Marty) Gaynor, Phil (Christy) Kains, Nick (Christen) Salomonson and Matt Salomonson. Great-grandchildren Myles, Emerson, and Thea.
