Maria Carmela Gervasi-Naccarato Ricchio, 86, passed away peacefully at home in Long Grove on January 26th, 2019 after a long battle with congestive heart failure. Maria was born July 26th, 1932 in Castrolibero-Consenza, Italy to Luigi and Concetta Naccarato. Maria came from Italy with her two young daughters after her husband came to Chicago 3 years ahead of her. She learned English and proceeded to find employment at Brach’s Candy where she worked until her retirement thirty years later. Maria loved her flowers and gardening with her husband. She loved her family, cooking wonderful Italian meals for her family, crocheting beautiful bed spreads for everyone and caring unselfishly for her late husband Giovanni of 64 years. Surviving Maria are her children: Emilia (James) Mauro; Rita Fontanini; John (Carm) Ricchio; Ann Marie (Mark) Drenovsky. She is also survived by grandchildren: Lisa, Joseph, Anthony, Gina, Nicholas Fontanini; Jennifer, Michael, David Mauro; Maria, John, Thomas Ricchio; Ryan and Joseph Drenovsky as well as ten beautiful, beloved great-grandchildren. Maria is survived by her dear, loving siblings: Francesco Naccarato of Consenza, Italy; Rita, Gilda, Rosina and Salvatore of Toronto, Canada. She is survived also by her beloved brother-in-law and sister-in-law Michele and Rachel Ricchio and many beloved nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation will be held, Thursday, January 31st from 3:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Cumberland Chapels (FRIEL FUNERAL DIRECTORS) 8300 W. Lawrence Ave, Norridge, IL. Funeral Services Begin: Friday, February 1st 9:00 A.M. at the Funeral Home and will proceed to St. Mary’s Church , Buffalo Grove. Funeral Mass 10:30 A.M.. Entombment All Saints Mausoleum.
