Maria Makos

Maria "Anna" Makos (née Kovacs), age 86, passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026. Maria was the beloved wife of the late Josef for 57 wonderful years and a devoted and loving mother to her daughter, Nancy. She was preceded in death by her cherished parents, her beloved husband Josef, and her brother, Karoly. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy, who will forever remember her mother's warmth, strength, and unwavering independence. Maria was a devoted wife and mother who always put her family first. She lived her life with love, resilience, and grace. She found great joy in baking, cooking, and gardening, and had a special love for flowers, which reflected her gentle spirit and appreciation for beauty. Maria will be remembered fondly by all who knew her and loved her. Her legacy of kindness, dedication, and quiet strength will live on in the hearts of her family and friends. Visitation Friday, April 24th from 8:30 to 10:30 A.M. at Cumberland Chapels (FRIEL FUNERAL DIRECTORS) 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Funeral Services Begin Friday 10:30 A.M. at the Funeral Home and will proceed to St. Eugene Church. Funeral Mass 11:00 A.M.. The burial will take place at the All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines.
