Maria Giannini, 87. Our beloved mother and friend peacefully passed away on September 18, 2021 at her home in Chicago, Il. Maria was the loving wife of John Giannini who predeceased her; devoted mother to Sylvia, Michael and Anthony; devoted mother-in-law to Paul and Terri; proud grandmother to Eryka, Elizabeth (Brandon) Selby, Lucas, Anna Maria and Nicole; proud great-grandmother to Nina; dedicated sister to Dora, Dina, Connie and Albert; dearest sister-in-law and devoted aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Blessed with an Italian passion for life, a strong Catholic faith, Maria will also be remembered for the love she shared with her countless friends and extended family, her passion for dance, golf and bowling, her easy laughter and spirit. Maria was born in Rochetta A Volturno, Italy, on October 23, 1933 to Anna Maria and Alessio Mancini. Maria immigrated to Chicago in 1954 where she married the love of her life, John Giannini. After her husband passed she continued to find joy in family, work and her faith, forever learning and growing.
Visitation will begin Thursday, September 23, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at CUMBERLAND CHAPELS, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge. Funeral will be Friday beginning at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home then proceeding to Our Lady Mother of the Church, 8747 W. Lawrence Ave., Chicago, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Entombment will be at All Saints Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
