Maria “Mamish” Casillas revered as a pillar of strength, bravery and unyielding positivity, passed away on August 12, 2025 just short of her 87 th birthday (August 14th). Maria was known for her warmth, generosity and undeniably loving spirit she brought into the world.
Maria will be lovingly remembered by her beloved children, Ramon and his wife Gabriela and their three children, Aidan, Daniela and Noah, her daughter Lourdes and her husband Guillermo and their three children, Ruben, (wife Alejandra and grandson Alex), Nikki and Samantha, her son Ruben and his wife Ruth and precious “Sprinkles”, her son Juan Manuel and his wife Kathy and their three children Adam, Julia and Emma and her son Robert and his wife Carmen and their five children, Adriana, Kaitlyn (husband Joey and granddaughters Audrina and Aubrielle) Tristan, Hannah and Nikolas, her brothers and sisters, Jorge, Bertha, Alicia, Alfredo and Alejandro. She is joined in eternal rest by her beloved husband, Ramon Casillas, her father (Juan Adan), mother (Fidelina Barrera), her beloved grandmother “Mama Manuela” and her brothers, Francisco and Armando, who will be rejoicing in heaven together. With a hefty family tree and a family consisting of both blood ties and bonds formed from the heart, Maria was cherished deeply by many for her generosity, and witty sense of humor.
Maria “Mamish” will be deeply missed—for her unforgettable Christmas tamales, her quick wit and humor, her joyful singing and dancing, and the vibrant beauty of her flower-filled backyard each summer. She truly embraced life with passion, warmth, and love.

A visitation will take place from 10:00 am until 11:00 am, followed by a Funeral mass at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 16, 2025 at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, 2601 Clinton St River Grove, IL 60171
Interment All Saints Cemetery, Des Plaines, Illinois.
